He said one of the buses was trying to overtake a third bus when they collided head-on.
Asman who was stuck in the driver’s seat managed to contact his sister in Sibu who alerted the police.
Yesterday morning, he was transferred to Sarawak General hospital due to his severe injuries.
A passenger from Sibu, Nura anak Gangda, 64, suffered head injuries. She was also warded at the Betong hospital.
Bukhori said when the police arrived at the scene, the passengers who were not injured had left the scene.
He said it had been raining for the past few days and urged road users to drive carefully.
“The road is slippery and at night, it is difficult to see far because some areas do not have street lights,” he said.
